How the encryption actually works
- Between GrafMails users: your mail is true end-to-end encrypted with OpenPGP. It leaves your device locked and only the recipient can open it — our servers relay ciphertext they cannot read.
- Mail from friends on Gmail & co.: their message arrives over an encrypted connection, is instantly locked with your personal key, and only then written to disk. From that moment, only you can open it.
- Mail you send out: delivered over enforced TLS with full sender authentication (SPF, DKIM, DMARC) — so your mail lands in inboxes, not spam folders.

What happens if I lose my password?
When your mailbox is created you receive an offline recovery key — print it and keep it somewhere you trust. It restores access to your mailbox. We can't use it; only you can.
Can GrafMails read my mail?
No. Your mailbox is stored so that only your key can open it — not hackers who breach the server, not admins, not us. We also don't scan, profile, or monetize anything: you pay for the mailbox, so you are the customer, not the product.
Does it work with my phone and mail app?
Yes. Use webmail in any browser, or connect any standard mail app over IMAP/SMTP — iPhone, Android, Apple Mail, Outlook, Thunderbird. The setup guide has the exact settings.
Can I use my own domain?
Yes. Bring a domain you own and we set everything up for you — DNS, DKIM, SPF, deliverability — with multiple private mailboxes under one roof.
Am I locked in, or can I leave with my mail?
Your mail is yours. The mailbox speaks standard IMAP, so you can export everything at any time with any mail client — no proprietary formats, no exit fees.
